These herbal remedies are derived from a set of beliefs in India called the 'Vat' or 'Pancha' systems. They are also called the 'disciplines' because they are thought to be part of the knowledge of ancient Indian wisdom or science called Sankrit.

The goal of Ayurvedic medicine is to maintain health by promoting general well-being. It is not focused on curing a disease or a specific symptom. Ayurvedic practitioners believe that by working with the body's inner functions, we can work to harmonize life force energy that runs through all of us. By working in concert with these subtle energy systems, we can reduce the symptoms and treat the underlying cause of the problem. We do this by using natural ingredients known as 'Vata' or 'Mansa'. Below is a brief description of each one and how it may be helpful for you:

Shankh-Vati: Shankh is one of the five elements of the body that are known collectively as the 'Pancha' or 'Churning Earth'. This term literally translates into 'ashes-tree' but is more commonly known as the 'Cortium'. In Ayurvedic medicine, Shankh is considered a powerful preventive agent for high blood pressure. It is one of the most potent compounds found in nature. As such, it is particularly effective for those with pre-existing coronary artery disease or heart failure. It stabilizes the blood vessels and reduces arterial stiffness and buildup.

Bhastrika-Vati: This Ayurvedic remedy is used to reduce both cholesterol and high blood pressure. It balances the levels of Dhrallionandar, Charal, Laxadi Guggulu and Suvarna Sutshekhar-Ras. It helps normalize pressure and cholesterol, strengthens the heart muscle, counteracts arteriosclerosis, and combats various kinds of allergies, including dust, mold and pollen. When taken in combination with other medicines like Laghu-Sutshekhar, it acts on the 'Nad' (lining) of the heart and increases circulation to the heart. Bhastrika is a powerful anti-parasitic agent.

Chitrakadi-Qadha: This herbal treatment significantly lowers high blood pressure. Chitrakadi-Qadha is considered one of the most powerful herbal remedies for high blood pressure because of its ability to act on the nerve centers located in the chest wall. It controls the nervous system and erases the 'Klishna' dosha that influences the functioning of the kidney. The result is increased potassium level and reduced sodium. Since potassium is deficient in hypertensive patients, this treatment can be very useful.

Chyawanprash-Qadha: This herbal treatment is given for reducing high blood pressure caused by congestive heart failure. It regulates the heart rate and relaxes the muscles. It can be very effective in reducing cough and other symptoms of cardiovascular diseases. This supplement also has a cardiac blood pressure effect and improves heart rhythm. Ayurvedic medicines that act on the cardiac function, strengthen the heart muscle and improve circulation to the heart, thus improving the functioning of the kidney and curing various kinds of heart diseases.

Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera): This is one of the main ingredients of Ayurvedic formulations designed to treat high blood pressure. Research studies reveal that ashwagandha has a positive effect in patients with high blood pressure. Studies also reveal that it can reduce atherosclerosis, prevent arteriosclerosis and improve blood flow, and increase coronary heart health.
